Kamloops SwimSkill Lessons are part of the Kamloops Classic Swimming Program. Many of our alumni have gone onto do amazing things. Many of them go their start in SwimSkill! We're very proud to have supported them during their formative years. We will occasionally post an update on what they're up to!

What they’re taking at University?
Bachelors of Natural Resource Sciences at TRU.
Plans after graduation (or what they're doing now that they're graduated):
Work in fire prevention. (In a nutshell: assessing risk areas within communities, creating fuel management prescriptions, and monitoring the progress)
How they’re finding (or found) the transition both athletically and academically from high school and KCS to varsity athletics, university in general, or the work force.
The transition was fantastic. Swimming makes kids and teenagers used to busy lives so going to university and not swimming made me feel like I had so much more free time. It also helped me develop good time management skills that aided with that transition.
How KCS helped prepare for the transition to Varsity athletics and/or the 'real world':
Swimming with KCS and working with their summer camps really made my resume strong in applying to 'real world' jobs after high school. I have worked in wildfire for 4 summers now; 2 as a dispatcher and 2 as a firefighter. The dedication and hard work I learnt swimming are some of the building blocks to my jobs in wildfire.
Biggest achievement so far:
My biggest achievement so far is fighting fires during the 2017 and 2018 wildfire seasons. Between the long hours, physical demands, and intense situations, I pushed myself more than I believed was possible and worked with many outstanding men and woman.
