Kamloops SwimSkill Lessons are part of the Kamloops Classic Swimming Program. Many of our alumni have gone onto do amazing things. Many of them go their start in SwimSkill! We're very proud to have supported them during their formative years. We will occasionally post an update on what they're up to!

I swam with KCS from 2007-2012, up until I graduated from the French immersion program at South Kamloops Secondary School. I then went to Faculté Saint-Jean at the University of Alberta. I completed my Bachelor of Science in 2016, specializing in biological sciences, and minoring in music. I am now completing my doctorate in medicine at the University of Ottawa. After graduation, I will be applying to various residency programs to continue my medical education and focus my career path.
I found that my background in swimming has taught me the importance of setting long term goals. I learned the importance of discipline, hard work and patience. KCS also gave me the opportunity to be a part of a community who was encouraging and supportive. The members, coaches and staff were always there cheering me on.
In addition to studying medicine, I have also been involved in medical research. I have presented at both national and international conferences. During my undergraduate degree, I was a successful musician and I had the opportunity to play in numerous honor bands and orchestras across Canada. More recently, I have begun dancing the Lindy Hop. This allows me the opportunity to teach, coach, perform and compete.
I can say that the lessons I learned while being a part of KCS have shaped who I am today. The work ethic developed during my years in competitive swimming have allowed me to build the confidence necessary to follow my dreams.
